When Your Mommy Energy Dips Do This!

 

As Working Moms we are pulled in many different directions which lead us to feel many emotions. We know we will be better off when we learn integrate work with our home life but we need the tools!  I highly recommend managing your Mommy Energy.

We all have energy which we use to live our lives but there is something about being a mother that gives us extra energy, aka Mommy Energy.  How else can you explain how Moms accomplish so much??  Managing Mommy Energy is how Working Moms can ace their dual workload. 

Before motherhood you (hopefully) were building a career based on purpose and passion which propelled you forward.  When you became a Working Mom you gained a new reason to successfully build your career.  You made an unspoken pledge to provide for your family.  Well-managed Mommy Energy can help you excel as a Working Mom by helping you take care of your family as well as your career.

How could you manage your Mommy Energy so that it doesn’t deplete by the end of the day?
  Here are 6 daily tips to manage your Mommy Energy.

1.  Do something you love.

Sing.  Write.  Read.  Whatever it might be when you do it, truly feel the love for this one thing while you do it.  For instance, when you are belting out a tune in the car, recognize that you are doing it and how good it makes you feel.

2.  Keep paper and pencil available at all times. 

Write in a journal in the morning or at night.  Keep an idea journal in your purse.  Keep a single piece of paper on the fridge.  On these pieces of paper, write down your ideas like the things that you want to do that you keep forgetting about.  Have you ever noticed that when you’re moving around, like going for a walk or cleaning the house your brain is racing with really valuable thoughts?  Get into the habit of writing these down, then DO something about them.  You’ll get a boost of Mommy Energy from the sense of accomplishment that you HAD the great thought and by writing it down you’ll DO something about it.

3.  Reach out and touch someone. 

Don’t you feel awesome after you have talked with someone about what’s going on in your life?  Either make a phone call, tweet, or write a Facebook post about what’s going on that day.  The power of connection boosts your Mommy Energy.

4.  Check in with your emotions. 

Answer the question, “How are you feeling”.   If you are not happy, then what emotion do you feel?  I’m not suggesting for you to make yourself happy because that may not be realistic.  What I’m suggesting is for you to be in touch with how you feel.  You'll feel more in control when you observe what’s going on within.

5.  Slow down then stop. 

When you are feeling like your Mommy Energy is dipping stop whatever you are doing and focus on yourself.  If this is not possible then commit to a time when you will stop.  Stop thinking about everyone else, like the kids, your husband, your co-workers, your customers, your clients, your parents, your friends, everyone.  Then become incredibly concerned about you.  Stretch your body.  Take some deep breaths.  Close your eyes and block out the world.  How does your skin feel?  Do you need moisturizer?  If nothing is wrong with your body, realize how GOOD you feel.  Feel grateful that you are alive and well!

6.  Smile, even when you don’t feel like it. 

There is only one YOU in this world.  You are a very special Mommy and the ONLY Mommy to a child.  What you offer your children is enough.  You are awesome to them.  We all have our limits and they are there so that we don’t go berserk.  Stop looking at others and feeling envious because what we see and what is reality can be drastically different.
