Tesla is the darling of Silicon Valley and the most valuable car company in America, but its headquarters isn’t exactly the futuristic paradise you may imagine. In fact, according to a bombshell report in the Guardian, workers at Elon Musk’s “factory of the future” are miserable. Not only that, but they’re apparently injuring themselves in record numbers.
[post_ads]Since 2014, more than 100 ambulances have shown up at the factory to pick up factory-floor employees who log grueling hours with a policy of mandatory overtime. Put into perspective, that’s an ambulance showing up out of your work about every week-and-a-half. It’s gotten to the point where some employees are calling the company “Stressla.”
“I’ve seen people pass out, hit the floor like a pancake and smash their face open,” a Tesla production technician revealed. “They just send us to work around him while he’s still lying on the floor.”
But since the Guardian report hit, some more bizarre allegations have hit the Internet. According to a post on Reddit, one Tesla team leader allegedly became so stressed out that he recently “lost it and started peeing [in the office fridge]” while 200 fellow employees looked on.
“It’s like the tech version of Willy Wonkas [sic] Chocolate Factory but you’re just an Oompa Loompa,” writes another anonymous former worker.

According to Tesla, “nothing is more important” than looking after the health and safety of its employees. “We’re trying to do good for the world and we believe in doing the right thing,” Musk told The Guardian. “And that extends to caring about the health and safety of everyone at the company.”
